This NGO serves children who are orphaned in Asia by raising up champions and caregivers who are motivated by love and equipped to care for their unique needs. This organisation partners with local and international organizations and people to provide real and lasting solutions for vulnerable children through caregiver training, support for child care centers, adoption advocacy and support, and raising community awareness. The children this organisation serve move from simply surviving towards thriving.

Internship Description

  • Attend orphanage visits with NGO staff two mornings a week
  • Prepare supplies and plans for weekly therapy sessions
  • Run weekly therapy sessions at the orphanage for children with a variety of special needs
  • Provide professional assessment and updates on children’s progress and needs
  • Assist other staff in events or activities as needed
  • Teach English to Chinese students 5 afternoons a week

Requirements

  • Dependable, honest, warm-hearted with a positive attitude
  • Fluent in English
  • Chinese language skills preferred
  • Can work independently and take initiative in projects
  • Has a degree or is studying for a degree in any of the following: Psychology, Special Eduation, Occupational Therapy, Speech Therapy, Physical Therapy, Behavioral Therapy (will consider similar degrees as well)
  • Has experience working with young children
  • Has experience working with special needs
  • Can provide references from past jobs or professors in your field
